Safety-Wise

General

Safety-Wise is the document containing the safety procedures for Girl Scouts. The first part ("Safety and the Girl Scout Group") contains the following chapters:

  1. Responsibility for Safety
  2. Group Leadership
  3. Group Planning and Budgeting
  4. Basic Safety Guidelines
  5. Planning Trips with Girl Scouts

These sections are available in an updated format as part of the Volunteer Essentials packet from the council.

The second part of the book contains Activity Checkpoints which provide safety information for specific activities one might want to do as a Girl Scout troop. The beginning of Chapter 7 describes the 3-step process in using this portion of the book.

Updates

The present edition of Safety-Wise was released in 2000. Since then, it has been updated numerous times, but it can be difficult to find the modifications. As a service, we've provided links to the two current collections of revisions:
